Mosaic Potash Carlsbad, Inc. hired Traylor Mining, LLC to supply the guide backers for the man cage guides in Mosaic’s #5 shaft at their Carlsbad, New Mexico potash mine. Existing W6 guide backers had corroded to the point that areas of the beam were completely dissolved.
The scope of work included revising connections to facilitate the change out of the guide backers in the shaft while utilizing the existing guides. Guide backers were fabricated from tubular steel and hot dip galvanized after fabrication to minimize corrosion effects.
