Project Win! Portal North Bridge

The Skanska Traylor PNB Joint Venture is the apparent low bidder on New Jersey Transit’s Portal North Bridge Project. The 100-year-old railroad bridge provides a critical link between Newark, NJ and Penn Station, New York. The aging movable span has become a bottleneck, particularly when it malfunctions while opening and closing to allow maritime traffic to pass beneath.

The approximately 2.5-mile, two-track replacement structure will be a fixed span 50 feet above the water to accommodate marine traffic below without halting train traffic. Notice to proceed for the $1.5 billion project is anticipated December 31, 2021. The job is bid-build and will start immediately with receipt of the NTP.
