As of December 7, 2009:
The project will add an additional lane in each direction along with 8-foot emergency shoulders. The main bridge structure for vehicular traffic includes the 4,700-foot-long east approach, the 2,400-foot-long main river crossing and the 5,600-foot-long west approach as well as
associated ramp work at both ends.
The approach structures are composed of both precast concrete and structural steel girders while the deck widening will be supported by a four-span widened structural steel truss about 150 feet above the river.
Piling (Steel): All Westbank Phase 1 pile have been driven. Work has begun on the Eastbank pile. 1282 of 2466 total pile have been driven.
Piling (Concrete): 275 of 1019 concrete pile have been driven.
Footings: All West bank Phase 1 footing have been poured. Work has begun on the Eastbank footings. 85 of 186 footings have been poured.
Crashwalls: 0 of 1 (No work has begun).
Columns: 55 columns have been poured on the Westbank Bridge.
Pier Caps: 0 of 8 (No work has begun).
Bent Caps: 40 caps have been poured on the Westbank Bridge.
BT-78 Beams: 13 of 47 spans have been set for the Westbank Bridge.
Type III Beams: 16 of 119 spans have been set for the Westbank Bridge.
Structural Steel: 2 spans for Westbank Phase 1 have been set.
Decks: 27 of 191 deck spans have been poured on the Westbank Bridge.
