Chalmette Loop Levee Improvements, LPV 145 (tbi09-08)
St. Bernard Parish, LA
Chalmette Levee Constructors (comprised of Kiewit, Massman, and Traylor) was awarded this levee system project, which is an essential component of the New Orleans Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS). 


Through December 2009:

LPV 145 Levee segment is located between Bayou Bienvenue and LPV 144 (Bayou Dupre).  This portion of the levee is accessible only by boat.  The project will construct a new T-wall to elevations varying from 32.0 to 29.0.  The new wall will tie in to the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Lake Borgne Barrier. The project must be completed by June 1, 2011. 

Preconstruction:  Preconstruction Services have been completed and Issued for Construction Plans and Specifications should be received by January 2010. 

Test Pile Program:  Testing at Site #1 has been completed and testing in ongoing at Site #2.  Test piles are being driven at Site #3.

Access roads:  Access Roads have started on the island and on the levee leading to the island. 

 

Access Bridge:  Construction has started on the temporary access bridge over Bayou Bienvenue.

Construction Method: Land based with marine access to the project's island location.  T-Wall will be constructed using rolling wall forms.
