South Cobb Tunnel Project (tbi0801)

The 27'4" hard rock South Cobb Tunnel is being mined 29,000 lf with a main beam TBM.
The tunnel will include five other drill and shoot connecting tunnels and adits totaling more than 5,000 ft. The alignment contains two 46' diameter lined shafts and an additional larger diameter shaft and pump station structure, and several intake structures.
This project consists of 29,000’ of TBM tunnel with five other drill and shoot connecting tunnels and adits totaling 5,000’ plus. The alignment contains two 46’ diameter lined shafts and an additional larger diameter shaft and pump station structure, which will be subbed. There are several other intake structures along the alignment.
Sweetwater Shaft is complete and Starter tunnel is being excavated. The TBM is 90% assembled and ready for testing. It will be delivered to the site in May 2009. Pump Station Shaft (100’ diameter) is down 80’ of 180’. South Cobb Shaft is excavated to microbore level and subcontractor is performing 300’ microbore.
