Achieving safety excellence is an ongoing journey.

As Traylor continues to improve safety programs and its safety culture, new ideas will emerge that lead to further improvements.  The attention to detail required to achieve safety excellence also leads to excellence in other aspects of our company.  "Building America Safely" is a worthwhile endeavor that we are committed to accomplishing.  We will build an injury free work environment, and we insist that all employees join in this commitment.  We strive for continual improvement to protect our most valuable asset, our people.

Traylor has built a safety infrastructure to help assure all of our management and craft workers think of safety as a behavior rather than a rule.  Over 200 of our field management staff have been certified in the OSHA 30 hour class.  This class is taught by our in-house safety professionals, and is included as a part of all major job start-ups to explain how our company views safety.

Additionally, over 70 of our management staff and operators have completed the Crane Certified Operators class.  Education provides the foundation on the safety culture we continue to build, from tool box talks, safety newsletters, activity hazard analysis (AHA’s) and safety alerts, all provided in English and Spanish.  A comprehensive Loss Control Manual provides guidance for job specific loss prevention plans and is updated annually.  Safety alerts are issued through-out the company on important subjects periodically by our Corporate Safety Director.

We believe that training our people is the best way to incorporate safety into our culture, and our staff of safety professionals assigned to the job sites are the training resources for our operations staff.  The “Safety Coalition” brings all of the safety people together for a phone conference periodically and a two day meeting every year at a job location to have training on new issues, provide insight into job challenges and to share ideas for the coming year.

Safety starts at the top of any organization, and there is no better commitment than is shown at Traylor Bros.  Each job has a safety committee, and each Division has a monthly safety call to discuss issues within the Division.  The Division Managers, Chief Operating Officer, Risk Manager and Corporate Safety Director hold a conference call each Friday to discuss any safety issues, safety incidents or near misses in the company.

We believe this leadership allows Traylor to “Build America Safely."
